Shodesh Shipping Is Handling Reactor Pressure Vessel From Mongla Port to Rooppur NPP

We have received this exciting project news from Shodesh Shipping & Logistics Company, our Project Logistics Alliance member from Bangladesh. They have been handling a Reactor Pressure Vessel for the Roopur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi, Pabna.

After the arrival of the ship at Mongla Port, the reactor pressure vessel was observed and a plan was shaped to transship the cargo on the barge. It was made ready simultaneously ensuring the steel mates are placed at the right position. The pressure vessel was then lifted with the ship’s own gear and loaded on the barge using appropriate slings and lifting items.

The reactor pressure vessel was placed on the welded steel mates on the barge carefully, using wooden planks and plywood to reduce the impact. When the loading process was completed, steel H Beams were fitted around the cargo legs Lashing with ratchets. Those should prevent any horizontal movements of the cargo. Further, belts and D rings were applied to prevent the capsize of vertically high cargoes. Trims of the barge were checked and balanced using a ballast tank and the barge left toward Rooppur NPP.

Upon the arrival of the barge at RNPP, unloading of the cargo was done exactly with the same procedure as in Mongla, using a reverse method and loaded on the Hydraulic Module Trailer. Again, plywood ensured safety to the cargo and lashing belts, chains and chain ratchets were fitted as tightly as possible to prevent any kind of movements of the cargo. Finally, the Reactor Pressure Vessel was delivered to the required destination through the HMT and the unloading on the cement block was done by the HMT.

This project was counting a total of 370 packages and a total gross weight of 2,355.50 mt. The cargoes of this project included the Reactor Pressure Vessel of 347.20 mt, a Steam Generator of 333.75 mt, and many more boxes with accessories.
