Network Global Lojistik A.Ş., the Türkiye member of the Project Logistics Alliance, has successfully completed the complex transport of the DCD 650 dredger—an impressive operation covering over 4,000 kilometres across multiple countries and challenging terrain.
The journey began in Tuzla, Türkiye, and concluded on the shores of the Caspian Sea in Turkmenistan, where the dredger will support vital sediment removal and navigation safety.
Weighing over 500 tonnes and measuring nearly 80 metres in length, the dredger was dismantled into 500 individual components. The heaviest piece reached 100 tonnes, and the longest measured 26 metres. Key parts—including cabins, platforms, pump cases, spud carrier, and anchor boom—were loaded onto six tarpaulin-covered trucks and 11 low-bed trailers.
To coordinate with a 700-tonne crane, six main components were loaded in a single day—starting at sunrise in Istanbul. One challenge required a last-minute trailer swap to manage weight distribution more effectively.
The route was equally demanding, taking the convoy through the steep Bolu Mountains, the Georgian border, and narrow, snow-covered roads en route to Turkmenistan.
