Gianti Logistics, a member of the Project Logistics Alliance representing Georgia, has once again showcased the company’s technical expertise by successfully transporting “Junction”, a monumental sculpture by world-renowned artist Richard Serra. The sculpture was transported from New York, United States to Gagosian Museum, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Through a smooth process that demonstrates how Gianti Logistics stands as a leading logistics provider not only in Georgia but across the entire CIS region.

This transportation project was notable for its uniqueness and complexity, presenting a number of significant challenges. However, with over 20 years of experience in both standard and oversized transportation, Gianti Logistics has earned a reputation for managing some of the world’s most complex logistics projects.
The primary challenge was the cargo’s oversized dimensions and the requirement for it to be transported vertically. The sculpture was divided into several oversized pieces, each requiring specialized handling and multiple trucks to complete the journey. “Junction” arrived by sea from the United States at Georgia’s Poti Port, where Gianti Logistics’ professional team received the shipment and initiated the next stage of its route. This involved carefully loading the sculpture onto trucks, securing it with precision lashing, and ensuring correct vertical alignment— all tasks requiring highly specialized handling.

The next challenge was the inland transport from Poti, Georgia, to Almaty, Kazakhstan, a distance of over 4,500 kilometres, with the cargo secured in an upright, lashed position throughout. The road conditions required exceptional caution and skill from Gianti Logistics’ specialized truck drivers. The sculpture’s curved structure and delicate surface meant the drivers had to be exceptionally accurate and detail oriented. Any damage, even a minor scratch, would have been unacceptable. Thanks to meticulous planning and execution, “Junction” arrived at its destination in flawless condition.
Precision and detailed preparation were critical. Gianti Logistics’ team conducted a route survey to ensure that safe decisions could be made at every turn, whether it’s navigating sharp bends, uneven terrain, or narrow roads. The team also managed the legal aspects, securing all necessary permits, completing documentation, and arranging special escorts for oversized freight.
Another major challenge was the season. The transport took place in spring, a time marked by unpredictable weather, including high winds and sudden storms. These weather conditions increased the risk of the cargo wobbling during transit. Every element of the route had to be planned with weather patterns in mind, and the drivers had to be fully prepared for real-time decisions — from how to take each turn to how to adjust their speed and steering in response to wind and road conditions.

Finally, the sculpture safely reached its destination and was successfully installed at the Almaty Museum of Arts in Almaty, highlighting Gianti Logistics’ unwavering commitment to precision, safety, and excellence.
Time and again, Gianti Logistics proves that when mastery meets meticulous planning, even the most formidable logistical challenges can be transformed into seamless achievements.
