Express Global Logistics Executes Internal Shifting of Heavy Equipment for Indian Oil Corporation's Mega PX-PTA Project

Express Global Logistics (EXG), representing India in the Project Logistics Alliance, has added another successful project to its portfolio by handling the internal shifting of 31 heavy equipment units for the prestigious client, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), as part of the Mega PX-PTA project at the Paradip Refinery.

The project involved transporting an Isomar Reactor, a Power Transformer, Fishing Columns, a Gas Compressor, and an Xylene Column. These critical units ranged in weight between 500 MT and 1160 MT. Additionally, the shipment included exotic metallurgy, highlighting EXG’s ability to manage intricate tasks seamlessly. Furthermore, the heaviest unit weighed 1160 MT and measured 74 x 9.5 x 10.3 meters, while the longest unit had a length of 90 meters, weighing 600 MT.

The movement of these heavy equipment units required meticulous planning and the use of equipment, such as a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) onto which the equipment was jacked. Spanning from mid-June to November 23rd, 2023, the shipment relied on 56 SPMT axle lines in several configurations, in addition to 2 power pack units. To achieve the required axle insertion height, 4 hydraulic jacks with a capacity of 200 MT each, supported by power packs, were utilized.

The shipment was completed within a tight timeframe to meet the client’s deadlines. EXG managed to deliver all 31 heavy units within the scheduled timeframe, boasting an impressive turnaround time of 5 to 6 hours per package. This accomplishment underscores the customer-centric approach and the unwavering dedication of team EXG while adhering to high standards of precision and safety. Additionally, EXG succeeded in making the shipment more cost-effective by leveraging its own SPMTs and hydraulic jacks.
