ALTIUS, a member of the Project Logistics Alliance representing Spain, Argentina, and Bolivia, has successfully completed a complex operation for Termavi, the prominent container terminal operator at the Port of Vigo on Spain’s Atlantic coast. The project involved the relocation of a 1,300-tonne Super-Post-Panamax Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane.
The crane was transported from the Port of Tarragona to the Port of Vigo in a turnkey operation that included structural reinforcements, RO-RO procedures using 84 Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) axles, and sea transport aboard the MV Zhong Ren 121. The ALTIUS team oversaw every phase of the project, ensuring precision and safety from start to finish.

Key manoeuvres included a 90-degree rotation of the crane to maximise loading efficiency and preassembly of the sea fastening system to minimise time spent on deck. Despite the total load reaching an impressive 1,900 tonnes, the entire operation was completed smoothly and without incident.
This successful relocation highlights ALTIUS’s expertise in executing complex, large-scale logistics projects. Kudos team ALTIUS on another job well done!
